Terms of Service
Effective date: July 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Veterans Benefits Unlock website, consultation process, and related services. By using this website or requesting services, you agree to these Terms.
Our Services
Veterans Benefits Unlock is a private service that helps veterans understand nexus letter needs, collect relevant information, and, when appropriate, connect with licensed medical providers who may review records and prepare independent medical opinions or nexus letters for VA disability claims.
We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, any government agency, or any veterans service organization. A nexus letter is a medical opinion. It does not guarantee claim approval, a particular rating, back pay, or any other VA outcome.
No Medical Emergency, Legal Representation, or VA Representation
This website is not for emergencies, urgent medical issues, crisis care, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in crisis, contact the Veterans Crisis Line by dialing 988 and pressing 1.
Information on this website is for general educational purposes. It is not legal advice, medical treatment, or a substitute for advice from your own attorney, accredited representative, physician, or qualified professional. Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, we do not act as your attorney, accredited VA claims agent, or VA representative.
Your Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and truthful information; submit records you have authority to share; update us if important facts change; review documents carefully; and use our website and services only for lawful purposes. You are responsible for your VA filings, deadlines, forms, claim strategy, and decisions unless a separate written agreement with a qualified professional says otherwise.
Provider Review and Medical Opinions
Medical providers use independent professional judgment. A provider may decline to write a letter if the records do not support a medical opinion, if more information is needed, or if the request is outside the provider's scope. We do not control the VA's decision and cannot promise that a provider will reach a particular conclusion.
Fees, Payments, and Refunds
Fees, payment timing, included services, refund terms, and cancellation terms will be disclosed before paid services begin or in a separate written agreement. If a separate written agreement conflicts with this section, the separate written agreement controls.
Website Content and Intellectual Property
All website content, branding, design, text, graphics, guides, and materials are owned by Veterans Benefits Unlock or used with permission. You may view and print website materials for personal, noncommercial use. You may not copy, resell, scrape, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
Prohibited Uses
You may not use the website or services to submit false records, impersonate another person, interfere with site security, upload malicious code, scrape data, violate laws, infringe rights, harass staff or providers, or attempt to obtain unauthorized access to systems or information.
Third-Party Links
The website may link to VA resources, government forms, maps, payment processors, or other third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices, or accuracy.
Disclaimers
The website and services are provided "as is" and "as available" to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation. We do not warrant that website content is complete, current, or applicable to every veteran's circumstances.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Veterans Benefits Unlock and its owners, employees, contractors, providers, and service partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost benefits, lost profits, lost data, or VA claim outcomes arising from use of the website or services.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Veterans Benefits Unlock from claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your misuse of the website or services, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or information you submit that is false, unauthorized, or infringing.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless applicable law requires another venue.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the website or services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

Effective date: July 3, 2026
This Notice describes how medical information about you may be used and disclosed and how you can get access to this information. Please review it carefully.
Veterans Benefits Unlock may receive, create, maintain, or transmit health information when helping coordinate medical record review, provider evaluation, nexus letters, independent medical opinions, or related services. To the extent we act as a covered entity, business associate, subcontractor, or other party handling protected health information ("PHI"), we follow the HIPAA obligations that apply to our role and our agreements with providers and service partners.

- Payment: We may use or disclose PHI as needed to process payments, invoices, refunds, charge disputes, or related billing activity.
- Health care operations and service administration: We may use or disclose PHI for quality review, credentialing support, secure document management, training, compliance, auditing, customer support, and business administration.
- VA claim support at your direction: We may use or disclose PHI to prepare, provide, or transmit documents related to a VA disability claim when you ask us to do so or authorize us to do so.

- Required or permitted by law: We may disclose PHI when required or permitted by law, including for public health, health oversight, judicial or administrative proceedings, law enforcement, preventing serious threats, workers' compensation, national security, or other legally recognized purposes.
- With your written authorization: Uses or disclosures not otherwise allowed by HIPAA or applicable law will be made only with your written authorization. You may revoke an authorization in writing, except to the extent we have already relied on it.
Uses That Require Authorization
We will not sell PHI or use PHI for marketing in a way that requires authorization under HIPAA unless you give written authorization. If we receive specially protected records, such as certain substance-use-disorder records, mental health records, HIV-related records, or other records subject to additional protections, we will handle them according to applicable law and any required consent or redisclosure restrictions.

Our Duties
We are required to maintain the privacy and security of PHI as required by applicable law, provide notice of our legal duties and privacy practices, follow the terms of the notice currently in effect, and notify affected individuals if a breach of unsecured PHI occurs when legally required.
Complaints
You may complain to us using the contact information below. You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. We will not retaliate against you for filing a complaint.
Changes to This Notice
We may change this Notice and make the revised Notice apply to health information we already have as well as information we receive in the future. The current Notice will be posted on this page with its effective date.
